South Birmingham College students wowed fashion fanatics with flamboyant red outfits boasting birds, cages, and masks at a top fashion show.

Students Strut Stuff at Fashion WeekThe clothes, based on an AIDS awareness theme, were modelled by fellow students at the much-anticipated fashion week at Solihull’s Touchwood Shopping Centre.

Eileen Simons, Assistant Director of Creative Studies at South Birmingham College, said the fashion show had been a fantastic experience.

“Scores of fashion lovers turned out for our show and it was a real boost for the students,” she said.

“The designs we displayed were originally made for the Positively Red fashion show held during Birmingham’s AIDS awareness week. The students put a lot of effort into the garments and it has been great to show them off again.

“Taking part in the fashion week has also given them first-hand experience of preparing for and working at professional fashion shows. It will look great on their CVs.”

The fashion week was the first one ever to be held at Touchwood Shopping Centre. It featured a whole host of fashion-inspired events, including catwalk shows, style workshops and exclusive promotions.
