Macmillan Cancer SupportNew students at South Birmingham College will be able to get to know each other over a coffee and cake while raising money for people affected by cancer.

Students and staff are being invited to take part in a fundraising coffee morning at each campus canteen on Friday 25 September to support Macmillan Cancer's World's Biggest Coffee Morning.

Biscuits and cakes will be sold at the event, and anyone who donates a substantial amount of the goodies will be entered into a draw to win a place at the glitzy Macmillan Diamond Christmas Ball at the Paragon Hotel on Saturday 5 December.

Dawn Cockcroft, South Birmingham College's Assistant Director for Marketing, said the coffee morning would be a perfect welcome event for new students.

"It's timed just right as it takes place shortly after enrolment and induction, so new students and staff can take a break together. All proceeds will go to Macmillan Cancer."

School leavers and people looking to retrain and improve their career potential still have time to sign up for a course at South Birmingham College, which holds enrolment sessions on Thursday 27 August as well as on most days during the first two weeks of September.
