Diploma: Childcare
& Education (DCE)

Duration: 2 years | Fee: £4,400

Are there any entry requirements?
This course is ideal if you want to work with children in any Early Years setting. To enrol on this course you will need a level 2 qualification or relevant experience. To begin this course you will also be required to have:

• a short Basic Skills assessment and an interview to ensure the course meets your needs
• a medical form signed by your Family Doctor
• a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) check; the College will help you with this.

What will I study?

You will learn through taught sessions, group work, presentations and considerable placement experience.

You will need to complete 12 modules including:
• Observation and assessment
• Working with young children
• Foundations to caring
• The developing child
• Health and community care
• Play, curriculum and early learning
• Working with babies
• Preparation for employment
• Anti-discriminatory practice
• Working with parents
• Provision of services and the protection of children

What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of this course you could progress onto Foundation Degree level.
