Students at South Birmingham College can learn how to stay safe and fit at the annual Healthy Living Event 2010.

The event will run from today (Monday February 1) until Friday February 5 at all of the College’s campuses and focuses on staying fit and having a healthy view on food and diet, as well as practical advice on managing finances, coping with debt, sexual health, volunteering opportunities and alcohol and drug advice.

The Healthy Living Event 2010 is being organised by the Students Services Division as part of the College’s commitment to the government’s ‘Every Child Matters’ agenda, which aims to support every child, whatever their background.

Eunice Kenyon-Blair, Deputy Director of Student Services at the College, said: “Research shows that the Midlands is among the unhealthiest areas of the UK and this is a major concern to us at South Birmingham College.

“We are holding the Healthy Living event to give our students the tools and information they need to stay safe, healthy and happy and make a positive contribution to society and achieve economic well-being.

“It is part of our wider commitment of enriching student’s lives outside of the classroom.”
