Are there any entry requirements?
This course is ideal if you want to work in the Construction Industry as a Bricklayer. To enrol on this course you will need a commitment to pursuing a career in the Construction Industry. You will need to pass an informal interview and a basic skills assessment.

What will I study?
You will study through a combination of practical and written sessions e.g. brick and block walling is taught in an extensive well equipped workshop, where you will learn about different types of bricks, block and mortar types to best suit different jobs.

An element of written work enables you to record the theories behind this practical work. Some self-study and written assignment work is also required.

You will study 7 main subjects:
Health & Safety
Loading and unloading materials
Solid walls
Cavity walling
Basic processes
Built environment and industrial study
Basic brickwork

Safety footwear is essential for workshop practical activities. You will need to supply your own stationery.

What can I do after this course?
This course provides an ideal grounding in essential skills for progression to craft levels, training in Brickwork and associated subjects. On successful completion of this course you could progress onto a Level 2 Diploma: Brickwork or NVQ 2: Brickwork.
