Are there any entry requirements?
This course is ideal if you have already completed a Level 1 Diploma: Brickwork or have relevant vocational experience. To enrol on this course you will also need Key Skills Level 1 and be committed to pursuing a career in the Construction Industry. You will need to pass an initial assessment.

What will I study?
You will study through a combination of practical and written units e.g. brick and block walling. You will be taught a variety of both practical and theoretical skills to form a substantial skills base and understanding of the trade.

You will study the following units:
Health & Safety
Loading and unloading materials
Decorative walling details
Simple setting out
Brick and block walling
Solid walls with openings
Transferring of levels
Thin joints
Cavity walling to timber frame and traditional
Bonding

Safety footwear is essential for workshop practical activities. You will need to supply your own stationery.

What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of this course if you show evidence of relevant site experience you could achieve the NVQ 2: Brickwork or you could progress onto the Level 3 Diploma: Brickwork.
