Are there any entry requirements?
To enrol on this course you will need GCSEs at grade G or above in Maths and English or equivalent qualifications. If your GCSE grades are below C you will be required to study Key Skills as a mandatory part of your course. This course is ideal if you are currently employed in Bricklaying.

What will I study?
You will study through a combination of practical and theoretical skills to form a skill base and understanding of the trade.

You will study the following units:
Erecting and dismantling basic working platforms
Brick and block walling
Decorative walling details
Arches, cavity walls, chimneys and copings
Mortars
Bonding
Cavity walls with openings
Setting out
Setting out for groundworks
Loading and unloading materials
Health & Safety
DPCS lintels
Cutting to rake
Stacks and flues
Transferring datum points

Safety footwear is essential for workshop practical activities. You will need to supply your own stationery.

What can I do after this course?
This course will provide you with the skills necessary for employment in the industry as a Bricklayer. On successful completion of this course you could progress onto higher level courses like the Advanced Apprenticeship in Brickwork, or Advanced Construction Award in Bricklaying, NVQ 3: Brickwork or the Level 3 Diploma: Brickwork.
