Are there any entry requirements?
To enrol on this course you will need to have a Level 1 Diploma: Painting & Decorating, an equivalent qualification or have experience as a Painter & Decorator. You do not need to be employed in the industry, although relevant work experience would be to your advantage.

What will I study?
You will study through a combination of practical and written units.

You will study the following main units:
Working platforms
Removing and replacing items
Stripping surfaces of paint
Stripping wall coverings
Preparing paint
Applying primers
Applying water and oil based paints
Basic wall papering and papering a ceiling
Removing and replacing radiators
Stripping surfaces of paint (gas)
Stripping wall coverings (steam)
Sanding using power tools
Removing and replacing glass
Patterned wall papering

Safety footwear is essential for workshop activities. You will need to supply your own stationery.

What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of this course you will have gained all the necessary skills to become a Painter & Decorator crafts person. You could then progress onto higher level courses like the Level 3 Diploma: Painting & Decorating.
