Are there any entry requirements?
This course is ideal if you are training or working in a technician role in
Electrical Installations. To enrol on this course you will need to have successfully
completed the National Certificate/Diploma in Building Services Engineering.
Alternatively, you will need good A Level passes in Maths and Science, plus
building services experience.
What will I study?
You will study 6 core units:
Design principles and application
Building services science
Analytical methods
Management principles and applications
Health, safety and welfare
Group project
You will also study an additional 4 units which include:
Air-Conditioning A
Refrigeration theory
Electrical installation A
Electrical theory
Lighting applications
Electrical installation B
This course is delivered through formal lectures and tutorials, case studies
and practical laboratory investigations. You will need to be computer literate
with knowledge of using the Internet, word processing and spreadsheets, as well
as specialised packages such as Heavacomp.
What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of this course you could progress onto a Degree qualification
in Building Services Engineering.
