Are there any entry requirements?
To enrol on this course you will need to have a level 1 Diploma, NVQ 1: Plastering
or equivalent qualification and/or have several years' experience as a Plasterer.
You do not necessarily need to be employed in the industry, although the relevant
work experience would be to your advantage.
What will I study?
You will study through a combination of practical and theoretical skills to
form a substantial skill base and understanding of the trade.
You will study the following main units:
Health & Safety
Materials-use and storage
Basic scaffolding
Basic plastering
Built environment
Industrial studies
Basic processes
Internal plastering
Floor laying
Basic working platforms
Bench run moulding
Fibrous cornice
Efficient working practices
Key Skills
Safety footwear is essential for workshop practical activities. You will need
to supply your own stationery.
What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of this course you will have a good grounding in the
trade and have the necessary skills to obtain a job in plastering. You could
progress onto higher level courses and convert this qualification to NVQ 2 by
combining it with relevant work experience/site evidence. Alternatively, you
could continue studying for a level 3 Diploma: Plastering.
