Are there any entry requirements?
This course is ideal if you want to learn the first steps to becoming a Refrigeration
or Air-Conditioning Engineer. To enrol on this course you will need to have
a Basic Skills assessment to demonstrate a level 1 in Numeracy and Literacy.
What will I study?
You will study the following core units:
Safe handling of refrigerants
Installation practice
Refrigeration theory
Electrics
Workshop
Health & Safety
Brazing
This course delivers the underpinning knowledge required by refrigeration engineers
to achieve the NVQ 2: Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning and also basic skills
such as brazing, pipe bending and refrigeration electrics.
What can I do after this course?
On successful completion of this course you will be better equipped to gain
employment in the Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning Industry, which will
allow you to complete your portfolio and qualify for NVQ 2: Refrigeration &
Air-Conditioning. Our NVQ 2 and NVQ 3 courses are eligible for Train to Gain
funding.
